Biography

I am an illustrator with a specialization in medicine in which my artwork has been published several times in medical texts and journals. My other body of work consists of children’s book illustration and fine art. Unpublished in the children’s book industry my goals include continuing to improve upon creating illustration for children (and adults alike) that transport them to anther world.

Intrigued predominately by American history, I have created artwork based on pre-Revolutionary War era, the Civil War and the westward expansion as seen the the Prairie Physician illustrations. I have also taken interest in the writings of Eugene Field, especially the ever-famous “Wynken, Blynken and Nod” and “The Little Peach”.

My future projects included writing as I have found several ideas that present themselves in my sketchbook. My hope is that with guidance from friends in the SCBWI, I can make this happen.

Because I think life includes much more that art-making, I spend time backpacking in the American Southwest, run in 5Ks with friends, make music with a fiddle in hand and tend garden with my husband. Currently, we live in downtown Chicago, Illinois with a splendid view of Sears Tower from our front window.
